In 2010 Governor Janice Brewer appointed James Strock to serve on the Arizona Governor’s Solar Advisory Task Force.
From 1991-1997 Mr. Strock served in Governor Pete Wilson’s cabinet as the founding Secretary for Environmental Protection for California. The California Environmental Protection Agency (Cal/EPA) is a world leader in the critical issues at the nexus of environment, energy, economics and finance.
From 1989-91 Mr. Strock served in President George H.W. Bush’s sub-cabinet, as Assistant Administrator for Enforcement of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Reporting to Administrator William Reilly, he led a major reorganization and expansion of the nation’s environmental law enforcement programs. The strict enforcement ethic is a key component of bringing environmental stewardship into the mainstream of business strategy, innovation and value creation.
Mr. Strock previously served as General Counsel of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management, Special Counsel to the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment & Public Works, Special Assistant to EPA Administrator William Ruckelshaus, and as a lawyer in private practice.
His books include: Serve to Lead, Reagan on Leadership (with a new Reagan Centennial edition) and Theodore Roosevelt on Leadership. Each is a business bestseller, in wide use in the private sector, not-for-profit organizations, government agencies and the military. He is active in social media, and blogs regularly on 21st century leadership, citizenship, and sustainability.
Mr. Strock is a graduate of Harvard College and Harvard Law School, and studied at Oxford University on a Rotary Scholarship. He served in the U.S. Army JAGC-Reserve (1989-1996).
